37 kms de Agra se construye una ciudad predominantemente en piedra arenisca roja y se llama Fatehpur Sikri. Esta ciudad fue construida por el emperador mogol Akbar. Había planeado esta ciudad como su capital, pero la escasez de agua le obligó a abandonar la ciudad. Después de este plazo de 20 años, la capital de los mogoles se trasladó a Lahore.
