Das Alhruzha-Rennen der Nehru Trophy in Punnamada ist eines der bedeutendsten und farbenfrohsten Bootsrennen in Kerala. Es ist eine weltbekannte Veranstaltung, die jährlich am zweiten Samstag im August im Punnamada-See in Alappuzha stattfindet.
Das prestigeträchtigste und interessanteste Ereignis unter den Rennen ist der Wettbewerb der 'Chundan Vallam' oder der Schlangenboote. Diese majestätischen Boote mit einer Länge von 30 bis 60 Metern und einem erhöhten Bug sind beeindruckend und bieten Platz für rund 100 Ruderer, 4 Steuermann und 25 Jubelführer.
