Durga Puja se celebra en Bengala Occidental, en particular en la ciudad de Calcuta. Es la ocasión más grande y más importante del año.
Durga Puja - el culto ceremonial de la diosa madre, es uno de los festivales más importantes de la India. Aparte de ser un festival religioso para los hindúes, sino que también es una ocasión para la reunión y el rejuvenecimiento, y una celebración de la cultura y las costumbres tradicionales. Aunque los rituales implica diez días de ayuno, la fiesta y la adoración, los últimos cuatro días - Saptami, Ashtami, Navami y Dashami - se celebran con mucha alegría y la grandeza de la India y en el extranjero, sobre todo en Bengala, donde la diosa diez brazos que monta el león es adorado con gran pasión y devoción.
