Nehru Trophy Boat Race au Punnamada, Alappuzha est l'une des courses de bateaux les plus importantes et colorées dans le Kerala. Il est un événement de renommée mondiale, a lieu chaque année le deuxième samedi du mois d'Août dans le lac Punnamada à Alappuzha.
L'événement le plus prestigieux et intéressant entre les races est la compétition de la "Chundan Vallam» ou les bateaux de serpent. Ces bateaux majestueux mesure une longueur de 30 à 60 mètres (plus de 100 pieds) avec une proue relevée, sont assez impressionnants et peuvent accueillir environ 100 rameurs, barreurs 4 et 25 chefs d'acclamation.
