Gara in barca del Trofeo Nehru a Punnamada, Alappuzha è una delle regate più significative e colorate del Kerala. È un evento di fama mondiale, che si tiene ogni anno il secondo sabato del mese di agosto nel lago Punnamada ad Alappuzha.
L'evento più prestigioso e interessante tra le gare è la competizione del "Chundan Vallam" o le barche dei serpenti. Queste maestose imbarcazioni che misurano una lunghezza da 30 a 60 metri (oltre 100 piedi) con una prua rialzata, sono piuttosto impressionanti e possono ospitare circa 100 rematori, 4 timonieri e 25 leader di allegria.
